What Is Meditation?
Meditation is often misunderstood. We see people “meditating” in movies or on TV and get a misconstrued idea of what it is, leaving us not knowing how to meditate properly. Meditation at its core is simply AWARENESS. So what is awareness? Awareness is focusing your attention on something. Like watching your breath, feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin, or listening to the wind blowing through the trees. It is a state of consciousness where the mind is free from random thoughts and interference. The meditator is present, in the moment. There is no “doing”, just thoughtless awareness. The mind is relaxed and silent but it is completely aware. This is achieved by deep relaxation. Let’s learn how to meditate properly!
How To Meditate Properly?
So we know that meditation is thoughtless awareness. How do we achieve this state? We need to separate ourselves from our mind. Then you become “the witness”. Watching is the key to meditation. What does this all mean? Simply, you watch your mind. You are not doing anything, you are simply watching what your mind is doing. All the thoughts it has. It is important not to disturb your mind. Do not resist any thoughts or repress them, let them be and observe them. You will notice, as you watch your mind, that it will slowly empty itself of thoughts. You become more and more aware and present (not thinking about the past or the future). So in summary, meditation is observing your minds thoughts, without judging or interpreting them, and eventually all thought will exit your mind, which separates you from your mind. This is the essence of how to meditate properly. They key to being able to achieve this is a deep state of relaxation. Meditation music is perfect for helping you achieve this. Meditation is a way of life. It used to be that meditation was for different kinds of people, but it has become extremely popular with all types of people around the world. Meditation is extremely mainstream and has become especially popular with every day people. It’s not a technique to get away from the stresses of life or a trick to boost confidence and quality of life. It needs to embody your mind and soul. Meditation is kind of being, a way of life. Learning how to meditate properly is a fantastic journey to take. I
t only takes 20 minutes a day and you can do it at any hour of the day. You can meditate for much longer if you wish too! It is an indescribable feeling when your mind is quiet of noise and all you can feel is your body’s energy. You are still and at peace with the world and yourself. There is no stress. There is no worries about what is going to happen tomorrow or what happened yesterday. Once you know how to meditate properly you will be present, here in this moment. It is important to live life in the moment because you cannot change the past and the future is non-existent. You can only shape your future by being present right now, living in the moment. Once you know how to meditate properly, this state of being in the moment will allow you to be so aware of everything that goes on in your life. You will notice you are more conscious of everything that happens around you. Life is not a heavy place. You are at ease with yourself and with the world.
